Who'd a thought? A bunch of kids from the Bronx blogging across the world.
Its nice to hear from you all.
Tommy, I remember you running down the public school kids trying to run away when we had to walk them to religious education classes.
Dennis, I remember you won 25cents cause the new kid (me) had the same hair color as you. We don't anymore, I went blonde!!
Brian, Marybeth, Susan (is Alice here?) - they were the other kids with 11 kids in their families.
Nora - very smart, best friends with Nancy who was also very smart.
I can remember that, but I don't remember who else is on our list so far. Oh well, it will be great when we all are in touch again.

I have remained very close friends with Nancy Vrana since we left school. Our families got together for weddings, parties and let me tell you that Vrana family knows how to party.
ReplyDeleteMaryAnne Nelan and I are now on Facebook, come join!
Mike( my husband ) and I and our youngest Elizabeth are actually headed to Lake George today to check out a few possibilities for the reunion. No school today.
We actually had eight (8) children. Only two still live in New York. I've lived in Florida for the past six year. Prior to that I lived in Georgia for twenty five years.
ReplyDeleteokay just rambling here:
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone remember Miss Duncanson calling me the "NEW GIRL" the entire year? maybe she really could not remember my name. I also remember the "boys" ( not naming names) calling after me in 4th grade saying "oak" tree in the "woods" since we had Mrs Oakes that year. Of course how can you forget Nancy and I singing and playing guitar for mass, who else was with us?, Nancy will remember. I broke/fractured my leg in 7th grade and Sr Mary Anne( with the mini skirt habit) and another Nun(again, Nancy will remember) came to my house to visit me and sign the cast and I know my father was embarrassed to see how short their skirts were.He recalled that often. I also remember going to Noreen Kardian"s apartment in the NEW building on Kingsbridge Terrace thinking she was way rich!
Just wanted to say hi to everyone. Can't believe it's been so long since we left OLA. Hope all is well, and I look forward to hearing from all of you.

Eddie,
ReplyDeleteHi there, tell us a bit about yourself, where are you living, what have you been doing since 1970? Do you still look the same? Just kidding, amazing how much we have all changed. Looking forward to catching up!
Hi Nora,
ReplyDeleteNo, I don't look EXACTLY the same:) Let's see. I was married for a while and living in Yonkers. That's where my daughter Kelly was born. She's 22 now. After I got divorced, I came back to the Bronx to be near my parents. I went to Lehman College, and got my bachelors in psychology and my masters in special ed. This is my 25th year as a teacher in the NYC public schools. I teach in an elementary school near Fordham University.
That's about it for now. Keep in touch.
Eddie
Hi Nora,
ReplyDeleteCan't believe it's been so long. Where to start? I was married for a while and living in Yonkers. That's where my daughter Kelly was born. She's 22 now. She's planning on nursing school in the fall. After I got divorced, I came back to the Bronx to be near my parents. This is my 25th year as a teacher in the NYC public schools. This I have a class of 11 special ed students, grades 4 and 5. I do OK with the kids, but the adults are another story. Still have problems with authority:)
If this post comes up twice, it just shows how little I know about technology. HELP!:)
Keep in touch,
Eddie
HEY EDDIE,
ReplyDeleteYOU SEEM TO BE DOING GREAT WITH TECHNOLOGY, WHAT DID THOSE 4TH AND 5TH GRADERS TEACH YOU ? I WILL CONTINUE TO CONTRIBUTE
Hey Nora,
ReplyDeleteThanks. Some of the kids remind me of when I was their age. Not sure if that's a good thing:)
Talk to you soon.
Eddie
I work with approximately 125 nurses in my unit, from age 21 to 60 . I never miss an opportunity to share with them about my childhood. I love to see the looks on their faces when I tell them that we did not even have a TV till I was 7 . There are a few that I can commiserate with, and no they are not senile!
ReplyDeleteI still cannot understand why my children won't let me sing in the car when I tell that I used to sing in church, with a microphone!!!!
